A short video says a thousand words.
This student is not-doing things, that this student should be doing, in a so called knowledge or smart economy.
Elliot Eisner of Stanford University has been calling since the late 1990’s for new forms of representation to communicate understandings of educational practices.
The video above is a great example of that.
There is an hour-long video of Eisner speaking at Vanderbilt University just last November 2009 here. Interesting if you have the time!

I agree, encyclopedias are nearly a thing of the past-there are so many sets around and kids don’t know how to use them anymore (and the info in them is so outdated now). They just sit there looking nice on shelves and taking up a lot of space!
Hey Emer, and now the government in the UK are talking about closing down public libraries as a cost cutting measure, the book could be doomed alright!
